What information do we collect from you?
We obtain information about you and the deceased, and about any other persons from whom you supply details at the time of the funeral arrangement or product ordering.

We also obtain information for the purposes of facilitating pre-paid and/or pre-arranged funeral plans.

Personal information is any information that relates to living individuals.

Why do we collect this information?
This information is necessary in order to ensure that funerals are arranged and conducted to the best of our ability.  We aim to ensure that any final wishes are carried out wherever possible.

What do we do with this information?
We respect the confidential nature of the information given to us, and we will ensure that the data will be held securely, in confidence, and processed for the purpose of delivering our services in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998).  Further information about how your data is processed by Milne Funeral Services, can be obtained by requesting a copy of the Milne Funeral Services Information Management Policy.

Who might we share your information with?
We often need to process and pass information to our suppliers and also to charities for donations in lieu of flowers.  We also may pass sensitive personal information to cater for special needs, for example wheelchair assistance.  Information may, for example in the case of repatriation, be transferred to countries outside the EU, where it may not be subject to the same level of protection.

In the case of advanced funeral planning, personal information will be passed to the respective funeral planning company which we choose to employ.

With funerals and preplanning, we (or third parties) may use your details to get in touch at a later date.

How long do we keep your information?
We keep records of funerals indefinitely in case the family contact us again in the future.  We also retain records in case a complaint or need for exhumation should arise.

Records of pre-paid/pre-arranged funerals are retained until the occurrence of the funeral, at which time, the above clause applies.

Details about the retention of any other information can be found in the Milne Funeral Services Information Management Policy.

How can I access the information you hold about me?
Under the Data Protection Act (1998), you have the right to know what data we hold on you.  Under the General Data Protection Regulations, you also have the right to object to the information which we hold on you, as well as the right to the erasure or rectification of data.  Finally, you have the right to lodge a complaint regarding the processing of your personal data by Milne Funeral Services.

Should you wish to do any of the above, or have any other enquiries regarding this Policy, please contact the Milne Funeral Services Data Protection Officer, Mrs Nikki Graham.

This policy will be reviewed by the DPO on an annual basis and updated or amended where necessary.
